NYEC Federal Policy Roundup (2/14/22)

BBB: We’ve been hearing that anything branded BBB is unlikely to pass. This article in Politico indicates that the BBB bill is dead but that reconciliation may still be a vehicle to move some of these ideas forward.  If there is a smaller package, pieces we care about may be included in some way. Sen. Manchin is talking about any BBB-type bill as a deficit-reduction package, with the size determined by revenue generated from tax changes. Since it is an election year, any bill would need to come together before the August recess, after which little legislating will happen. Sadly, at this point it’s not clear how we can influence the direction of this package overall or the specific provisions we care about. The awareness of what we want is high and we’ve dealt with the opposition to our provisions that exists.
