Omnibus: Both parties are still working toward a FY23 omnibus funding bill; the difference in topline spending targets for nondefense line items is around $25 billion. Education and Labor Committee Chair Bobby Scott is also seeking to include his reauthorization of the National Apprenticeship Act in the omnibus, to expand apprenticeship opportunities and head off possible Republican efforts to weaken the apprenticeship model in the new Congress.
Ed and Labor: Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) received a term-limits waiver so that she can run to chair the Education and Labor Committee, but Rep. Tim Walberg (MI-07) announced that he will challenge her.
